  • Putting FileMaker 10 to work on your iPhone
    FileMaker has updated its flagship database product to version 10--we've told you about that. FileMaker Pro 10 offers many new features, highlighted by an interface overhaul, the addition of dynamic reports, and an updated Quick Start screen and Resource Center--we've covered that, too. And a team of FileMaker developers is celebrating the release of FileMaker 10 with a free database designed for the iPhone and iPod touch--that, friends, we haven't told you about.

  • Best iPhone apps: SFA, CRM, and BI
    The surprise among business applications that support the iPhone is how many of them have gone native. Of the seven business apps on our list, only one -- SugarCRM -- reaches the iPhone via the Safari Web browser. Native apps that tap Salesforce.com, Oracle CRM, Oracle BI, QuickBooks, and SiteCatalyst come from the App Store.

  • Best iPhone apps: Office and personal productivity
    These iPhone applications help extend your business desktop to the phone. Some sync contacts, calendars, and documents; others provide direct access to your PC or Mac; and a few conquer notes and memos with speech-to-text or handwriting recognition. All are native, except for iGoogle and Google Apps, which are tuned to the mobile Safari browser.



  • Best iPhone apps: Communication and collaboration
    The iPhone 2.x software brings Microsoft Exchange support to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Look to the following Safari and native apps to connect with IBM Lotus Domino eMail; sync with Outlook calendar and contacts; share news, notes, and files with co-workers; and message without SMS charges.

  • PPT2DVD Burns Presentations to DVD
    If you're interested in sharing your PowerPoint presentations as DVDs to be played on a DVD player, this program gives you a simple, no-fuss way to do it. Wondershare PPT2DVD burns a completed presentation to a DVD, and includes all aspects of it, including transitions, music, videos, and so on.

  • FmPro Migrator updated to add FileMaker 10 support
    .com Solutions, a FileMaker developer, has updated its FmPro Migrator plug-in to add support for the newly released FileMaker Pro 10.

  • Sling Media plans iPhone client release by March
    Sling Media announced late Monday that it will release an iPhone client app for its Slingbox line of place-shifting video players by the end of March, as well as offering support for high-definition video streaming for Mac users for the very first time.

  • Marketcircle offers sneak peek at Daylite Touch
    Daylite has already established itself as a pre-eminent organization and business-management tool on the Mac. The application from Marketcircle manages contacts, tracks projects and to-dos, schedules meetings, shares calendars, and essentially keeps everything organized for up to 50 users on individually licensed Macs.



  • Roxio intros Toast 10 Titanium
    Roxio has unveiled its newest version of its CD and DVD burning software for the Mac, Toast 10 Titanium. It's on display at this week's Macworld Expo in booth 2238. Pricing starts at $99.

  • Vicinity for iPhone
    Hungry? On a road trip, looking for a place to stay? ActiveGuru?s Vicinity is the latest app to exploit the iPhone?s GPS location feature (not to mention location tools in the iPod touch) to let you browse nearby services and amenities, including as banks, bars, supermarkets and convenience stores, gas stations, hotels, restaurants and takeout places.
